It was earlier this year when it gave away free t-shirts to app developers who built the first Windows Phone jailbreaking tool and then posted it online. In return for taking down the tool of course, the app developers were flown to Microsoft HQ in Redmond and ended up working closely with the Windows Phone Development team to figure out how Microsoft could work with the thriving app development community (known as "homebrewers").
Unlike Apple, which regularly updates the code on its iPhones to prevent homebrewers from creating apps for the iPhone, Microsoft decided to reach out to these fine folks and work with them instead to create apps for its own device.
Now, Microsoft is back and is looking for coders once again. Can you code? Enter The Great Apportunity by coding the next biggest Windows Phone 7 app and compete to win $10,000 and other prizes from Microsoft. Follow them on Twitter for up-to-the-minute updates or shoot them a quick email and say hello.
