Canon Printer Error U150

Diposkan oleh Unknown

The printer says it can't recognize some print cartridges and asks you to replace them. You replace them, but nothing happends. After fiddling around with it for a while, eventually it works, but another cartridge shows the error. Possible Solutions:

1. Pull the plug. Take the energy away from the printer to reset the memory. Leave it without power for a few minutes. Try not turning it off first.
2. Reset the chips. This often happens with replacement ink or canon chips on replacement ink tanks. Go to the ink store, they usually have chip resetters.
3. Clean the contacts on the printer and the ink chips with ISOPROPYL Alcohol.

AT YOUR OWN RISK! If nothing works, try Canon original ink. If that doesn't work, contact Canon. Good luck!

Nestlé Challenges Drugs Industry

Diposkan oleh Unknown on Monday, September 27, 2010

FT.com / Companies / Food & Beverage - Nestlé to take on drugs industry:

The Financial Times reports;
Nestlé is challenging the global drugs industry with plans to invest 500m Swiss Francs ($510m) over the next decade to support the creation of a standalone health science business to tackle obesity and chronic disease.
The Swiss food group, which announced the move on Monday, appointed Luis Cantarell, one of its most experienced executives, to “pioneer a new industry between food and pharma” that will develop products to combat diabetes, heart problems and Alzheimer’s.

Yvonne Bishop-Weston Nutritionist , London said today "This comes as no surprise to me, it was long overdue and only a matter of time before someone like Nestle spotted a new awareness about the link between nutrition, food, mood and optimal health and started taking on the Pharmaceutical Industry."

"The acid test will be whether Nestle actually come up with a nutritionists dream, some genuinely healthy nutritious products or just more highly processed, nutrient depleted, refined food with an added functional food nutritional ingredient" warned the nutritionist.

Anna Nicole Smith verdicts will resonate for doctors, patients

Diposkan oleh Unknown on Sunday, September 26, 2010

Abeautiful blonde celebrity has been making cameo appearances in a downtown courtroom. The woman is Anna Nicole Smith, a one-time Playboy model who died in 2007 of a drug overdose. Those on trial are her former lawyer-boyfriend and two doctors, all charged with conspiring to give her excessive prescription drugs while knowing she was an addict.

The busty bombshell who sometimes slurred her words and appeared drugged. Who was she in life? Even her name was a mystery. Was she Vickie Marshall, Anna Nicole Smith, Michelle Chase, Susie Wong, Jane Brown or a number of other pseudonyms used to fill prescriptions? Was Smith a drug addict or a woman beset by so much pain from various ailments that she sought relief in medicine bottles?

Apliant victim drugged into semiconsciousness by others or a strong-willed woman who told people what to do? The jury of six women and six men will ponder those questions when the case is submitted to them, possibly next week.Superior Court Judge Robert Perry has harshly criticized the prosecution for "overreaching" and indicated he will bar some charges.

The way this case is charged and being prosecuted," he told Deputy District Attorney Renee Rose. "If you're going to accuse someone, you should have some evidence.I would hope that a prosecutor would be intent on finding the truth, not just a conviction. Now, Perry has presented both sides with a 15-page document he labeled "Thoughts," asking 50 different questions about the charges.

What evidence shows that Anna Nicole Smith took drugs to get high or obtain a euphoric state and not to relieve pain?

Dr. Perry G. Fine, clearly impressed the judge. Fine testified that even if Smith was prescribed 1,500 pills in one month for pain, it did not mean she was an addict — that clinical factors had to be considered as well as her high tolerance for opiates and sedatives.Perry sees this as central to the case and advised jurors: The number of pills is not a determinative factor in this case.

Smith's homes after she died. Much of the prosecution's case has been a laundry list of powerful medications, including Methadone, Dilaudid, Demarol, Valium, Xanax and Chloral Hydrate. Pharmacists testified about being shocked at the number of medications prescribed and one said he refused to fill.

Smith suffered from chronic pain syndrome, seizures, fractured ribs, migraine headaches, insomnia and severe back pain, as well as depression after the death of her son, Daniel. But I can see why he is concerned, she said.Even the (California) legislature has expressed concern that these statutes might be used in a way that would chill doctors from treating pain.

Veteran lawyers Steve Sadow, Ellyn Garafalo and Brad Brunon — recently made a surprise announcement that they will call no further witnesses after the prosecution rests. They say the case against their clients has not been proven.

Perry, who said he has researched the legislative intent behind the relevant laws, said he may tell jurors that to convict the defendants of prescribing to an addict they must find the prescriptions were for "non-therapeutic purposes," meaning to feed an addiction rather than treat an illness.

Dr. Sandeep Kapoor and Dr. Khristine Eroshevich have pleaded not guilty to an array of charges, including conspiracy to provide excessive controlled substances, prescribing to an addict, and obtaining drugs by fraud — some prescribed under false names.

Examined every prosecution witness and the judge said they succeeded in destroying the credibility of several, including two nannies flown in from the Bahamas. Sadow accused one of them of outright perjury. The prosecution summoned up Smith's video images to suggest she was addicted — showing her at the American Music Awards.

He asked whether nine prosecution witnesses should be considered accomplices and jurors should be warned to treat their testimony with caution. These included pharmacists and doctors who prescribed to Smith under pseudonyms, a common practice with celebrities.A former federal prosecutor of drug cases, said this case was overcharged and Perry will probably pare it down to the bare minimum he feels can be supported by law.

Prosecutors used photos of Smith naked in a tub with Eroshevich and pictures of Kapoor kissing Smith after riding with her in a gay parade to show that the doctors blurred the line of their professional relationship with Smith.

Monday on dismissal motions, but indicated some charges will likely survive in some form.He wants arguments to be limited to two issues: whether Smith was an addict and whether prescriptions.

Convictions could send a message that would inhibit doctors from prescribing pain medications and treating celebrities. They will feel that big brother is looking over their shoulder, she said. And even though we do want monitoring to keep the public safe.

Paris Hilton: Paris Hilton settles Hallmark lawsuit

Diposkan oleh Unknown

Hollywood actress Paris Hilton will be getting a little something in the mail from Hallmark this year. The socialite has settled a lawsuit against the company over a greeting card that featured a scene seemingly ripped from her old reality show "The Simple Life."

The caption read "Paris's First Day as a Waitress" and made a pun on her trademarked catch phrase, "That's Hot." In 2007, Hilton sued, claiming her publicity rights had been violated.Last week, attorneys for Hilton and Hallmark advised a California judge that they had reached a settlement. A confidentiality provision limits the release of exact terms.

The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, which handed Hilton a huge legal victory last year. The appeals court rejected Hallmark's protected-speech argument and raised doubts that the greeting card was "transformative" expression.

The two sides have been preparing for a December trial. Evidence was being collected to ascertain the commercial value of Hilton's endorsement.Hilton's name will be stamped in law review articles discussing the tricky balance between publicity rights and the First Amendment-but we may never know exactly.

Fixing - at least some - Skypephone S2 Battery Issues

Diposkan oleh Unknown

My 3 Skypephone S2 at some point started to run out of battery after being on for about 20 hours or less. And this is not because a Java program crashed, which can be a reason, too. It was after a full charge over night and switching it off and on. Eventually it turned out the problem was that I had still activated the USB Modem setting in Connections. Once I turned it back to blue tooth mode and turned off bluetooth after that the problem was gone and the battery lasted a *lot* longer again. Anyways, the battery delivered with the phone seems to be not very good in any case, so you might want to get a new one. The big question is just: where?

Update: It works! The only problem is you need to leave out the battery at least over night afterwards.

If you like this, why not order a Three UK Sim with my agent link (or send the link to friends). You get an extra 5 quid or so AFAIK.

Dunedin North is another Ohariu

With ACTs David Garrett resigning from Parliament, Hilary Calvert enters Parliament. She contested Dunedin North at the last election, which means that four candidates who contested Dunedin North at the last election will be sitting in Parliament after recess: Pete Hodgson, Michael Woodhouse, Metiria Tuei and Calvert.

The only other electorate like this is Ohariu. Four current MPs also contested Ohariu in 2008: Peter Dunne, Charles Chauvel, Gareth Hughes and Katrina Shanks. It would have been five had Heather Roy not shifted to contest Wellington Central.

Labour Party members get two votes out of seven to select a candidate for Dunedin North. And today they did so. As expected David Clark won and will be the new MP for Dunedin North after the election. His brother Ben is likely to be Labour's North Shore candidate.

As with Kris Fa’afoi, the candidate that Goffice, unions, and the local MP wanted prevailed. But unlike Fa'afoi, at least Clark appeared to have a history of involvement in the electorate.

I’m wondering why local party members in various electorates that are not associated with unions don’t have more of a say as to who their candidate is.

Grundlegendes Gesunder Schlaf

Fix: OpenCards 1.5 Crashes in Openoffice 3.1 3.0 Linux or Mac

Diposkan oleh Unknown on Wednesday, September 22, 2010

If you don't know it yet, go and check out OpenCards - the best flash card learning software I know. You can edit the cards with OpenOffice Impress like a presentation and then Opencards helps to to learn the slides with a smart algorithm.

If your system crashes when you want to run OpenCards, try starting it from xterm like this:
env SAL_NO_XINITTHREADS=true ooffice -impress
.
This certainly fixed my problems. Now I can switch to Linux on my Netbook. Turns out Openoffice runs much faster in Linux than in Windows.

By the way:If you can't install the OpenCards Extension and see a large java error message, you probably haven't installed all necessary openoffice packages and activated Java. Try installing the meta-package "openoffice.org" and the package "sun-java6-bin".

Past grades could affect future government assistance to students

The other day I was advised by letter of changes to student loans and allowances. Grades are going to affect eligibility to loans and allowances. But I was particularly surprised to see that grades from 2009 will count towards eligibility. Doesn’t affect me, of course, I passed everything well.

Had I failed half my courses in 2009, I could get a student loan or allowance in 2010. But perhaps not in 2011. And according to Tertiary Education minister Steven Joyce, this new policy of passing more than half of your papers could affect 9000 students – at least the ones that can be enrolled.

If you are being slack and partying hard, and fail because of that, fair enough. But what happens when a student who studied in 2009 because he couldn’t get a job, mid year got a dream job and dropped out of studying. He passed his three semester one papers –getting straight As - but as he has not passed any of his five semester two papers, he will get no government assistance if he wants to continue his degree – even if he wants to study extramurally and do just two papers while working. What if he gets made redundant and wants to go back studying? Will he have to pay everything himself?

Also, a first year student who gets to grips with studying passes three out of eight papers in 2009 because he’s sick, has family and part time work commitments. Perhaps he took on more than he could chew and withdrew from one mid-year. Perhaps he is an extramural student who took a third year paper in his first year (as I did). While a pretty poor performance, it is a little different to a student who skylarks and doesn’t make the effort to pass his papers. But he is treated like one.

So, he takes fewer papers the following year. He doesn’t get a student allowance so he gets a job and takes four papers, passing three with A grades, and withdrawing late from one. Because he did not pass more than half his papers in his first year he may not be entitled to a student loan. His sin was not academic underachievement or slackness – probably more like overcommitment.

Paris Hilton: Drug case delays Paris Hilton from entering Japan

Paris Hilton at Narita International Airport for a second day Wednesday while they decide whether she will be admitted to the country after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor drug charge in Las Vegas.

Her arrival in Japan on Tuesday, one day after her plea, according to an e-mailed statement by Hilton's representative, Dawn Miller.Hilton spent the night at an airport hotel after being questioned by officials. She was scheduled to appear at a news conference in Tokyo on Wednesday to promote her fashion and fragrance lines.

We are continuing the immigration process to determine whether she can enter Japan or not," said Kazuo Kashihara, an immigration official at Narita. He declined to give a reason for the delay, but under Japanese law, immigration authorities are empowered to deny entry to those who have been convicted of drug-related offenses. The front desk at her hotel said calls to her room could not be connected.

Both countries have strict anti-drug laws and immigration procedures, and it was unclear whether Hilton would continue her travels.Paris was contractually bound to her business trip and didn't want to let down her brands and many Asian fans, the statement said. "She intended on fulfilling her contract and is trying hard to do the responsible thing, but this is beyond her control.

When an officer found a small amount of cocaine in her purse. She pleaded guilty Monday to drug possession and obstructing an officer and was placed on informal probation for one year. The terms of her sentence did not restrict travel overseas. We have no legal basis to restrict her from traveling throughout the United States or throughout the world.

Her attorney said Monday that she planned to complete the service by volunteering with animal advocacy groups and children's hospitals.Hilton served 23 days in a Los Angeles-area jail in 2007 after she was found to have violated her probation on an alcohol-related reckless driving case. She also was detained in South Africa in July during the World Cup on suspicion of marijuana possession, but the allegation was dropped when another woman in her group pleaded guilty to carrying the drug.

Brian Tamaki's spiritual father may be rather dodgy?

Atlanta Bishop and Preacher Eddie Long is Brian Tamaki's spiritual father. Tamaki is well known as Bishop of Destiny Church. Long believes that God can "deliver" homosexuals and teaches on prosperity,a belief that God provides material prosperity for those he favors.

In 2008, Destiny Church had a conference and Eddie Long was there. He took a guy from his church to Auckland with him for his 18th birthday and attended the conference. Robinson, in a lawsuit, [PDF] has alleged that Long used his imfluence and church money to engage in sexual misconduct with him while in New Zealand , and another has claimed similar activity in the US. Long is now facing two lawsuits.
The pastor took one plaintiff, Anthony Flagg, 21, on overnight trips to a half-dozen American cities in recent years, Flagg's lawsuit [PDF] alleges.

"Long shared a bedroom and engaged in intimate sexual contact with plaintiff Flagg including kissing, massaging, masturbating of plaintiff Flagg by defendant Long and oral sexual contact," the suit says.

Long took the other plaintiff, Maurice Murray Robinson, 20, to Auckland, New Zealand, in October 2008 for his 19th birthday and engaged in oral sex with him, Robinson's suit alleges.

"Following the New Zealand Trip, Defendant Long regularly engaged in sexual touching, and other sexual acts with Plaintiff Robinson," Robinson's suit alleges.
At this stage it is a lawsuit, and he is innocent until proven guilty, but it is also not a good look, and his church has not denied it to the media despite repeatedly being asked to in the past two weeks.

Eddie Long is now a trending topic on Twitter. That didn't take long. His church website is here, but it is unavailable to view. He tweets here.

Kim Kardashian: Miles Austin and Kim Kardashian Break Up

Diposkan oleh Unknown on Monday, September 20, 2010

Despite all of the rumors that she’s pregnant, it looks like the only baby Kim Kardashian is going to be having is a food one. According to People Magazine, the romance between the almost-30-year-old reality star and her boyfriend of 4 months, Dallas Cowboys football player Miles Austin, is over, and we’re guessing that Kim is getting over the break-up by finding solace in high-fat food.

A inside source to the magazine about the supposedly mutual break-up. "With his season and Kim's filming [Keeping Up with the Kardashians] it just slowly split them apart." Is Kim Kardashian Pregnant?

The couple reportedly called it quits right before Kim left for Europe. But, in case you were thinking that this was just some summer-time fling, the source adds:They tried to keep it as low profile as possible when they were together. They were acting as if they were single or just having fun, but they never were – it was the real deal. They were always strong, but before Kim left for Europe they decided it's not fair that they don't get to spend more time together and ended it.

So who will Kim date next? Since she’s currently in Italy and due back in the U.S. on Thursday, there might not be enough time for her to meet a charming, Italian soccer player and be snapped holding hands with him before she leaves Europe. Although, given that she’s about to turn 30, maybe she’s actually started to listen to the family members who have reportedly been urging her to give up on dating athletes and has been looking for just a regular.

Athletes just aren't a good long-term investment. Then again, Khloe Kardashian is married to basketball player Lamar Odom, so maybe Kim should just turn stay away from football fields and start meeting her guys courtside.

Key wonders if people will blame MMP for ACTs problems

John Key speaks on ACT’s problems.
I'm wondering whether the public might say 'look, very small parties are consuming quite a lot of time' and maybe they will take the view that MMP fundamentally isn't working so well.
Of course Key didn’t mention MMP when List MP Richard Worth blew up in his face, so one can only assume he is trying to deflate blame and cover for Rodney Hide. If there was ever a reason to vote MMP in the referendum next year this is it, because MMP will then be reviewed. Perhaps they`ll decide not to let MPs in off the list who failed to win their seats – MPs like Richard Worth. Perhaps they`ll look at the one MP rule so that multiple MPs – or fewer of them – can’t get into parliament on the back of an MP. Perhaps they`ll look at changing the five percent threshold, or ensure list MPs resign from parliament after resigning from their party they got elected to, even if they want to form a new party as did former Alliance MP Alamein Kopu .

Justice Minister Simon Power has said that voters will be well informed about the options of how MMP can be modified, before a referendum is held on the electoral system at next year’s election.

The alternative to MMP is white males in suits running the country like Muldoon did.

It’s weird that Key implies that MMP isn’t working well – but the anti-smacking legislation is working perfectly well, because it was designed not to work at all. MMP works well – if Garrett leaves Parliament, we won’t need an expensive election. But if fewer MPs were let in off the back of an elected representative, or if list MPs were made to resign from parliament after quitting their party, he wouldn’t have had the option of leaving.
