Justin and Cameron confirm split.

Cameron Diaz and Justin Timberlake have confirmed that they have jointly waved goodbye and turn their backs on their four-year relationship.

"It has always been our preference not to comment on the status of our relationship, but, out of respect for the time we've spent together, we feel compelled to do so now - in light of recent speculation and the number of inaccurate stories that are being reported by the media," they said. "We have, in fact, ended our romantic relationship and have done so mutually and as friends, with continued love and respect for one another."

Diaz, 34, and Timberlake, 25, began dating in 2003 after meeting each other at the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards. Rumours about a split have been rife since Christmas, with Timberlake believed to have spent the festive period with his family and ex-girlfriend Veronica Finn. Speculation reached fever pitch this week with the kick-off of Timberlake's 36-date FutureSex/LoveShow tour, at which Diaz was conspicuous by her absence. Tabloid magazines have already linked the singer to blonde actress Scarlett Johansson, 22 - touted as Diaz's worst enemy.
