Pauline Fowler's death in the soap Eastenders will leave a hole the British nation. I know British fans, and global ex-pats everywhere are going to see an institutional figure of the soap sadly disappear. I’m worried the writers haven’t thought this out though. Whose going to wake Martin up in the morning, to make sure he gets his vegetable stall up in time? Who’s going to cover Dot's shift at the Launderette? Who’s going to rally up against Peggy, when the Mitchell’s get too big for their boots? And most of all, who’s going to keep Sonia in her place, and remind her she is just a trout on legs. I’m in shock.
