Armed Forces To Axe An Extra 7,000 Penpushers In Shock Civilan Jobs Cull -- Daily MailThe Ministry of Defence will axe a further 7,000 penpushers in a desperate bid to bring its spiralling budget under control, it was revealed today.
The shock cull of civilian jobs was announced in a letter from the cash-strapped department's top bureaucrat Ursula Brennan.
Staff were already reeling from Defence Secretary Liam Fox's pledge to cut 25,000 civil service posts by 2015 in a bid to help the MoD grapple with a £38billion deficit in its finances.
