Other research shows that it can help prevent ear and throat infections in children – encourage them to drink it for that particular benefit of cranberry juice alone. You need the pure juice which you can get in health food stores – the cranberry cocktail drink does not possess the same benefits of cranberry juice. The taste is slightly sour, but you can add some other fruit juice such as apple for sweetness. Or, add eight ounces of water to two ounces of pure cranberry juice, you'll have a cool, refreshing drink. It's got all those vitamins and minerals as well as those critical trace elements – consider buying fresh cranberries and juicing them yourself.
Another of the cranberry benefits is that it improves skin health, decreases cellulite and clears up acne breakouts – really. It has so many good properties that the temptation may be to drink too much of it but a word of caution here. It does contain a lot of natural sugar and because of its acid content, can be the cause of diarrhea, bloating, GI problems and abdominal pain. Adults can drink two or three glasses per day, but children should be restricted to just one.
More cranberry benefits – it protects against macular degeneration of the eyes, which affects many people as they age. A friend drank cranberry juice to aid in quitting smoking and she told me that she had no nicotine cravings at all. It can also help in cases of gout just as it does in breaking down kidney stones.
Let me share this with you – I drink cranberry juice every day. I have no health problems and my friends tell me I have great skin. Could it be a benefit of cranberry juice? I think so. Another thing - I like to add a few fresh cranberries to my burger; I park six to eight of them on top of the tomato and onion slices to add a nice little "bite" - and my family enjoys their burgers with cranberries too.
